I just got back tonight from New York and I'm beat. I went to see my only niece graduate from high school, and what a joy it was to do so. She is a fine beautiful young woman who makes me more proud to be her uncle every time I see her.
On the flight from Albany to Las Vegas I was caught by several sudden mental flashes of the plane crashing, me being sucked into the engine, the wings ripping off, and a few other images I can't remember. I've never been afraid of flying and this sort of thing had never happend before. I had a moment of near panic when I thought I must be having a premonition. I though about telling the woman next to me or yelling for the stewardess. But it was just a bunch of crazy flashes in my head and nothing else. So I just closed my eyes and said a prayer, and when that didn't work I just said "fuck it" stuck my head in my jacket and told myself the crash would be quick and probably a lot of fun on the way down.
