Santa Fe, NM.
I moved from Santa Fe to Portland 16 years ago. This is my first time back. I thought that I was prepared for the changes, but I wasn't. got a bit cranky last night after driving around searching for anything familiar... It is just a different town. I mean, what did I expect after 16 years? After all, part of the reason that I left was the money and celebrity factions coming in and driving the real heart and authentic out. I guess I wanted some part of Santa Fe to grab me and embrace me, but it hasn't.
I do love New Mexico though... parts of me want to come back. the southwest has always managed to pull me back, it is just that this time Portland latched it's self on to me and didn't let go. This trip has shown me that that grip isn't that strong any longer... I just got comfortable and didn't pay much attention when the grip loosened.
I wiil spend a little more time here, I want to go the the O'keefe museum before I move on. then up through Taos and into colorado before likely moving east.
I just haven't gotten to the heart of things...

Thanks for the story, I'm glad somebody can relate to my "pain", hehe. What really gets me is that I can see all my shots in my head, but I can't share them with anybody... le sigh. It really kills me; maybe I need to take up painting. haha
