so being that im still fairly new at this computerized socialization thing - what is the correct ediquette when discussing friends who are not part of the online community? even when the topic is not of a private nature, i tend to keep thier name and identity out of my writing. this just seemed to me to be fair, since the person or people in question arnt actually the ones volunteering the info. of course i wouldnt write or say anyting that was ment to be confidential but still it seemed polite to keep them anon. the only problem with this is now ive gone back and read some of my posts and they seem unpersonal or even delibretly unnecessarily vauge.

i use nicknames and it works out just fine. in fact, that's where token got his name for sg from.
