It definitly felt like everything was just sort of crammed in there. I don't think anyone should bother going to the Harry Potter movies if they haven't read the books, because they aren't going to understand half of what's going on. For instance, do you think anyone caught that the reason Neville was so bothered by the Crutacious curse was because it was used on his parents?
As far as the acting goes, I like to look at it in context with the rest of the movies. The young folks have vastly improved - even if they still aren't great. I've only seen GoF and the first one - the other two I only saw bits and pieces of. I MUCH prefer the books, I think the movies are just an excuse to oogle some teenagers with hot accents.
