What started out as a great deal on Hopeless records.com has turned into one of the most interesting releases I have encountered this year. Mles debut release Everyday Behavior is a pop-punk twist on catchy hooks brought together with third part harmonies reminiscent of everyones favorite barbershop quartet. While the opening tracks may have a bit of an edge to them (and by an edge I mean a very little one) the rest of the album that follows is much more of a Ben Folds-esque slow rock-a-thon with soulful lyrics and Piano intros. Tracks like Perfect Mess and Sleeping Through Autumn make you want to hold up a lighter and sway, while The Curse makes you want to sing-a-long and bob your head. Whatever this album may lack in its edge, it makes up for and then some in its diversity. Definitely not for the hard-core punk rocker, but I think anyone looking for something with a bit more soul and harmony will enjoy this debut release!
