I just read that Basil Poledouris has died. I find this incredibly sad. As a musician and a film geek, his scores were among my absolute all time favorites, and he ranks up there with John Williams, Bernhard Hermann, and Ennio Morricone as creators of truly memorable themes. The Riddle of Steel/Riders of Doom bit from Conan The Barbarian is in my top 5 pieces of music ever. Period. He was a giant.
