Well my first day at Thomson PDR was cool and super chill. I didn't do anything other than get settled in. I even have my own cubicle and computer. By the way, Thomson PDR is the company that publishes the Physician's Desk Reference among other things that doctors and nurses and pharmacists find super handy.

So as a perk of being at this company for my rotation, I get to read a whole shitload of books because they have tons of them. This is fucking awesome because I love books and some of them are totally up my alley re: reviewing for the boards.

I have a colon cancer, diabetes, HIV, Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma, breast cancer, and some other disease management guides. Plus I dragged a Red Book to my desk and an abridged antibiotics book from Johns Hopkins. I have some pocket guides sitting at the desk too. It's fricking awesome. OMG, I'm such a dork I guess. Only I would get all happy about this stuff.

So I shelled out for a 30 day membership to NYSC near my rents. I hate regular gyms with a passion. They're boring and full of meatheads who only train their chests and biceps and leave their legs like chicken legs. They also have no cardio or other skills. I used to be more of a regular gym rat and then I stopped and got tattooed for a few years and finally started doing what I always put off doing and I am SO glad. I swear, boxing, kickboxing, etc - it's such a good workout. You work out muscles in groups and you develop a really strong core and you get fast and strong AND lean - not bulky and inflexible. I move better and faster than I ever did when I was just concentrating on weights. My cardio is better, my reflexes are better. I feel so much more confident and less chunky than when I was much bulkier.

So yeah, I ran 2.5 miles, jumproped for 10-15 minutes, did step-ups with a little jump at the top, took an hour of the boxing class (the music was not what I'm used to - think whiny traditional Thai kickboxing music), then did a 15-20 minute abs class. I already miss kicking people and things.
