Thanksgiving has come and gone yet again, and I can't help but look deep into the meaning of the holiday, and actually contemplate what I have to be thankful for at this junction of my life. Let's see:

- I'm thankful that I got out of my shithole, smells like ass, surrounded by crackhouses Tempe apartment, and moved in with my sister.

- I'm thankful my sister Emily came out here to spend Thanksgiving with my sister, mother, and myself. We had an awesome dinner, and a really great Thanksgiving day filled with waaaaaay too much laughter.

- I'm thankful that I am getting back on track with my school stuff after a rocky first part of the semester. I'll go ahead and couple in the fact that I am also thankful that I changed my major from the depressing field of Criminal Justice to a more feasable major in Education. I think i'll be a lot happier as a teacher.

- I'm thankful for all the interesting things coming my way this holiday season. My sister and I are welcoming in a new roomate, Matt Engelking. He's a fucking awesome guy, and a total blast to be around (It also doesn't hurt that he has a Wii). Plus, one of my sister's friends from China is going to be in Arizona in December, and will be staying on our couch for an undisclosed amount of time. She speaks very highly of him, so it should be an awesome experience having a student from China staying with us for a little while.

- I'm thankful for the following bands releasing excellent albums in 2006: Tenacious D, In Flames, Amon Amarth, The Haunted, Into Eternity, Mastodon, All That Remains, Burst, Strapping Young Lad, Diecast, The Human Abstract, Lamb of God, The ever-mighty Slayer, and of course Iron Maiden. Maiden may not have the speed they used to, but i'll be god damned if they can't wow me with their superior ability to write music. Music is a big aspect of my life, and these bands are what made my 2006.

- I'm thankful that I finally got to see Dream Theater live this year. I like to think i've been to a decent amount of metal / punk concerts at my relatively young age, and that show, without question, is the best concert I have ever been to. I don't see that changing anytime soon.

- I'm thankful that Ronnie James Dio is reuniting with Black Sabbath for this "Heaven and Hell" project they're doing. Dio is the quintesential voice of Metal, and some of my favorite Sabbath is the music they made with that guy. Everything he touches turns to un-fucking-believable. His solo band Dio, Sabbath, Rainbow, all of it. The guy is awesome, and I expect good things from this Heaven and Hell thing.

(alright, sorry, that's the last thing i'm saying about metal.)

- I am thankful for Something Awful.

- I am thankful for the genius of David Cross.

- I am thankful for this website. It's been nothing but excellent so far.

- I am thankful for friends who care.

- I am thankful for my mother being NOTHING like my father.

- Most of all, I am thankful to anyone brave enough to read this rant. Mazel Tov.

So there you have it. A nice Thanksgiving clusterfuck of thankfulness. Even a sarcastic prick like me can take time to appreciate the little things that made this year whole.

Oh, I'm not a forum goon...I waste enough time on SG for free! I do love SA though, and I've been reading it daily for years now. My favorite features are Weekend Web, Your Band Sucks, and the Hentai game reviews. Good times.
