So I shot easter pictures for my class this weekend. Yeah it's a week late, but hey I tend to procrastinate, and finding friends that are willing to participate in my odd little adventures tends to be somewhat difficult.
You wouldn't believe how hard it is to find a big pair of easter bunny ears. I was really hoping to find some like the costume Ralphie wears in a Christmas Story, but no luck. The best I could find were on a little headband sized just right for a 5 year old. Furtunately I was able to stretch it out. A nice basket and a bunch of plastic eggs, and we're ready to go...
So with all of that, a heavy camera, and a willing accomplice we headed downtown at about 9pm. We hit a couple of random industrial areas on the way down and fired off a couple of warm-up shots. I had one particular alley in mind, and after finally getting there, begin to set up. Just as I'm getting ready to fire the first shot, a black car comes rolling through. They stop and roll down the windows. It's two undercover officers wondering what we are doing. Now at this point my friend hasn't been wearing the bunny ears. I tell the officer politely that we are shooting pictures for a college course. Immediately after those words get out of my mouth, my friend steps up and tells the officer "See I put on these easter bunny ears, and I've got this basket of eggs..." The officers both give us this crazy look and say "We've heard enough! We're out of here!" Then proceed to speed out of the alley. A good laugh, and then we get back to shooting the first two pics. Once again another car comes rolling through. This time as it gets close they hit us with spot lights and flash the red and blue strobes. I couldn't hold back the laughter when the female officer gets out. I immediately ask her if the other car had told dispatch about us. She laughed and said no, but then procceded to ask me if we were shooting a porno? Uhh what? We filled her in on the whole easter theme, and they finally left us alone. We we're visited by one more officer before we finished at that location. The last one didn't see nearly as much humor in the situation, and made a couple of nasty comments to the both of us before leaving us alone. Either way it was a fun shoot, and hopefully I'll have a few creepy easter pics to post later this week.
