So, seeing "Across the Universe" was nice yesterday. I saw it with my mom who was the quintessential hippie (she went to the original Woodstock, wore Lennon glasses, had long hair, etc.). And it was interesting to see what she said about things being realistic. She said The Village was like that and she used to drive up there with her friends (she lived in a small town in New York).

At the same time... It made me think about the career thing all over again. I wish times were like the 60s as opposed to now, because back then was less about money and more about exploring who you were in life and enjoying it.

I know I'm young, yes, but I really have NO idea what I want to do and it sucks. I think I want to work for a not-for-profit organization like the Red Cross or Oxfam International. I know I want to go into the Peace Corps for a while, but I really don't know.

I love politics and writing. I'm okay with a political science major and a sociology minor, if that's possible (I'm not sure sociology is a minor at Loyola). I kind of want to be a lawyer at a public firm, but I don't know. I don't want to spend my time in an office and wear a suit all the time. And I like journalism because I like being able to tell people important things, but the likelihood is that I'd be stuck writing shit articles or fetching coffee for a very long time. And thus stuck in an office.

I just don't know. And my school is NOT helpful. I emailed my advisor last week and she hasn't responded.

I can't wait to see Across the Universe. I've been a burnt on the Beatles from an obsessed ex-bf, but I love julie Taymor.
