The concert was AMAZING.
The day was long. So this will be a long post.
I was really sick in the morning and I didn't know if I would make it because I threw up. And I felt really sick until about 3.
But I forced myself to take the 10am train and I slept at Brian's dorm for like an hour. So we got there around noon.
We got forced to leave the seats at 1 to wait in line. But there was no line. We went to one side and they told us that there would be two lines and that we would be told when to get into it.
So we were in a group of about 20 people on the grass and they were all really nice.
Then around 3 people had made a line on the other side. And none of us understood why. Until they brought the line our way. We tried to run in front but we got yelled at. So our entire group of 20 people started screaming about how we'd been here just as long and they told us there would be two lines and we were the front of the line.
So luckily, they gave us yellow arm bands so they knew how many of us there were and they put us in line about 10 people back. We were all okay with that because some people had been there before us.
So, another two hours after that, we got seated. And it sucked a bit because we were put back behind reserved seats. I was okay with it... But then the people came ten minutes before it started. They were all old. And it started to drizzle a bit.
I was happy with that because it was fucking hot out. But then of course, the old people took out their umbrellas. And I couldn't see. After 7 hours I wasn't going to not see. I stood, which they said we could in the beginning, but people complained and the guards made us sit. And the old people wouldnt slump down enough for us to see.
LUCKILY, and I'm so glad Colin did this, he told people to stand and dance if they wanted. When people started sitting, he said no, to keep standing if we wanted. I swear he saw the guards force people to sit. So I stood the whole time and people had to fucking deal with it.
Anyway... The music was amazing. I'm waiting for someone to post a recording. "The Tain" was sweet as hell, but in my opinion "Odalisque" turned out the best. I had my lighter up for "I Was Meant For The Stage" and then other people started to do so. It made me happy.
And then, the best best best part of it all was the encore. Old people were leaving and Colin suddenly said "Everyone come to the front!" so everyone ran (I heard people jumped barriers in the back too) up and they played "16 Military Wives" (With the Smith's "Ask Me" in the beginning, as he sometimes does) and everyone was singing and making goofy noises along with him and dancing. And then, of course, they played "The Mariner's Revenge Song" which was insane because there was thunder and probably over a thousand people in the crowd. The scream was long, loud, and enjoyable. The dancing and clapping was fun too. It amused me because the guards were afraid of small groups trying to rush the stage and instead they had thousands.
Anyway... It made me happy. It was worth a long day and feeling ill. I can't even express how much I love that band. They make music seem like it isn't a dying art.
I have some pictures, but they aren't very good. I'll post them in an album.
