I've found that I really hate political sub-sections of forums that aren't political to begin with.
The people in them are always rude, arrogant, and stubborn. Their opinion has to be right and they have the obscure facts to prove it.
They think they're smart, but they don't mind belittlling others to make themselves feel better about who they are.
I used to enjoy debating politics on forms, now I just stay out of them.

i try not to let it keep me from posting on things i really feel passionately about, though. there's a difference between that and empty debate.
