I got a job. Through a temp agency.
It's pretty swell. Maybe a step down in the grand scheme of things but I like it better and I'm getting paid the same. I guess that is what is really important.
I'm working for the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh. For anyone that doesnt know what HA does, they provide outreach to low income families and find them places to live, build senior citizen complexes, and other things for people in need so they dont become homeless.
Yep, it's a goverment job. Meaning BANK HOLIDAYS! HAH!
Basically what I'm doing is 'gophering'. There are 25 employees in the office and I do whatever they need...copy, bind, errands, etc. I also cover the phone for the receptionist's breaks and lunch.
At my last job I was a receptionist and I could never leave my desk. While this did give plenty of SG time, it was really boring. I think this job with all the different projects and running around actually makes the day go faster. Although the title 'gopher' doesnt really sound as good as 'secretary/receptionst'. I should rename myself to Clerical Specialist. Ooh yah, that sound good.
Now I just need to figure out how to get to work without paying an arm and a leg. Tomorrow I brave Pittsburgh Public Transportation.
