I think March this year was one of my most difficult months ever. There were no funerals. In fact there was a wedding. But I was sick for three weeks. And my finances were tight. I'm talking noose tight. I pay my mom 150 a month for rent/whatever. More than happy to because my cell is on family plan and other things etc. I owe her on the first of the month. I'm still paying off stuff from Christmas. This year I'm getting the whole family done for 50 bucks. One big family portrait on canvas or something. If I don't get that for someone before then. No diamond earings, no new credit cards, and black friday is not Walmart.

If the job hunt was an animal hunt that meant my survival, say in caveman days, where if I did not bring home a kill I would starve or be killed for weakness in the herd, I'd be dead. I've been sending out stuff, going company website to company website with hat in hand and a beggars bowl. That's been great for my self confidence.

That magazine I'm working on is getting reworked. The problem I'm having is that for future issues, where it's idea driven, not all ideas are really that good. I felt very enthusiastic about issue 1, I was very headstrong at the start of Clusterf$ck but then I got sick for three weeks and I had work stuff and I'm three pages from finishing it. I can't approach the rest of the ideas I have the way I did these two. For one thing, I'd be throwing filler in there, and if pink slime is any indicator, nobody likes filler, least of all me. So I'm going to finish up all the ideas I have right now, in the way that interests me, and to be honest, it costs me a lot of money considering how well it's sold. (i.e. my family wouldn't even buy it) So I have to find a way to do things differently.

In other great news, the comic company I do stuff for free right now might be willing to look at my ideas for some books. They always need all ages stuff and I am trying to get them to bite on some non-cutesy geared for kids that just learned what reading is kind of stories.

Here's to April.

(and just because I'm not a downer)
