- Sunday: Left work at quarter to ten. Should have been out at 8 but a 14 top squashed that. Made it down to the next town over at twelve.
- Monday: Cousin's wife from Brazil taught Samba and other dances. Fun was had. That was at night. During the day, went to the beach. Water was cold. I'm talking liquid ice.
- Tuesday: Never do Tequila shots before noon. Also, if you spend a lot of money at a liqour store, they may give you free shirts and bottles.
- Wednesday: Again, don't do tequila shots before noon. Went to the boardwalk, did some mechanical bull riding. Video will follow soon.
- Thursay: I learned I don't like Johnny Walker Black. More people came to the house. It was great. Went to the boardwalk for coconut shrimp. It was good.
- Friday: Beer pong knockout, which lead to throwing people into the pool, which lead to cannon ball contests, that lead to a whirlpool, and we started playing water volleyball. Good night.
- Saturday: Went to boardwalk again. This time with more family. Took a ride on the sling shot. Not bad. Also, more bull riding. Grown ass men are willing to pay 20$ to be shot up in the air but refuse to pay 5$ to ride a mechanical bull.
- Sunday: Clean up and get home.
Bare in mind, I was going to the beach every day with my skim board. Which I've been doing cumulatively for six weeks. Over six years. Across three boards.
Let me explain. My fat ass can ride those boards. It took me a couple years to get good at it. However, my first two boards were under forty dollars, the cheap kind you'd find in any store on the boardwalk but not a real surf shop. So after eight hours of applying epoxy, polyurethane, wood glue, and other filler to my cheap second board before I went down to the shore, I managed to get three days out of it before splitting it in half from my fat ass riding it.
So I go to the surf shop and get a look at the boards. I need something for a 200+ lb rider. I had two choices. A two hundred dollar zap board or a ninety dollar bamboo surface board. Did I mention I'm cheap?
So I ride that board. It is awesome. Come Sunday though, I notice a spot. The top layer of the board is coming undone. No worries, I have a year to fix it.
A year later
"Fuck it, I'll only get splinters if I jump on the cracked and broken part."
In the coming weeks, I'm going to tear up the top layer and fiberglass it. But that's for the next blog.
