Well, I have had an amazing weekend.
Checked out two djs who spin house together. The one often plays the drum machine while the other spins 80's top 40 to house and break beats. A lot of fun. I don't naturally go out and listen to old 80s music but it was nostalgic to dance around to it and be goofy.They mixed it really well. There were some tunes in there that I couldn't believe they pulled off a mix of the two genres. Nirvana with break beats?? RAWR!
Friday checked out Bullfrog and Kid Koala, a jazz band with a scratch dj. So good! Saw alot of people I knew and was invited to a housewarming party for a dance studio afterwards. My sound guy was spinning and he played some Amon Tobin which rocked my world. Not many people mix Amon Tobin.....**wiggle**
Saturday got up early and drove to Saskatoon to see the jazz fest. Totally wonderful.
Got to have some great conversations all the way up and all the way back, listen to some fabulous music all day. Hhmmmmm........heaven!
My new tattoo looks awesome. Pics later.....
I think I have figured out my video problem. I perform again on the 10th and I'm hoping I can get into the space earlier and do the whole work with two cameras instead of just one. That way, I can edit together two shots as well. Much better.
OH! AND.....If any of you have access to the Canadian dance mag "Dance Currents".....I'm in there. A little blurb about my piece last year in the Stream of Dance Festival. WOOHOO! I had a little girl freak out in Chapters and got told to simmer down.
