Handicap, Alzheimer's, & Death
Hopefully I'll have my computer back tomorrow, but I can't do much until I receive it. I got this computer in 1999 and it served me well for a long time. But it doesn't have a lot of software I need, is grumpy about USB peripherals, and chugs along at 450MHz. I'll post pics of my travels and whisky reviews as soon as I can.

We visited my grandma this morning. She's been doing bad for a long time. This might be the last time I see her since I probably won't return from Japan for another year and a half. She did amazing considering a string of incidents she's had lately like trying to escape. She didn't have a clue who we were and couldn't remember a thing we told her, but she comprehended everything and was overjoyed to have visitors.

Have you ever had anyone close to you die? I never have. Both my grandpas have died, but I only saw them a couple times a year, and nothing more than acquaintances my age have died. I have never grappled with a close friend or family member dying. We're completely removed from death in the West. And when it does happen we hide it, and explain it away from our kids. Living in India provided what I think is a much healthier perspective on death. Since it's such a common occurrence, death is viewed simply as the final stage of life. While mysterious and just as painful, it's not feared.

hah yeah. Frats are a waste of time.

I'm with you on the deaths. I've never had anyone real close to me die, so I don't know what it's like either.
