Honey, I'm Home!
I failed to stay up as late as I should have last night to battle jetlag. But I eventually got back to sleep after waking up at 3:00am this morning.

Being back is of course interesting. I'm not keeping a little journal like I did last time, but I've been paying attention:

The first thing I noticed was the diversity. An explosion of races of people. Different colors, different hair, different sizes, etc. Japan is just so homogenous.

One funny thing was the clear decline in fashion quality as I progressed towards Kansas. Nagoya was business and smart casual. San Francisco was fashionable but relaxed. Denver was casual. And by the time I got to Wichita it was sweatpants and t-shirts. And lots of jeans with knit polo "business attire". And lots of buzzcuts. And lots of cheap sunglasses.

US milk is better than Japanese milk. Japan homogenizes at a different temperature which gives it a sweetish/sour taste. However, Hida milk from Gifu is the best I've ever had.

Oh the comfort of direct communication! I was definitely needing a break from circular Japanese talk. And Americans are just so darn friendly and helpful and talkative. Strangers chatting up the person next to then, strangers helping people who are lost or confused about something, strangers smiling and saying hello.

I LOVE my kitties!!!! miao!! miao!!

Just as I noticed last year: damn Kansas is flat! It's not so much that it's flat, but that it's an endless plane of flatness. I'll always love that Kansas sky though. It's like living by the ocean, but with waves of wheat.

The birds woke me up this morning. There are so many trees, and yards, and open spaces in the US.

I love driving. I'm so free. I feel like speeding and smashing things. And cappin' thugs and rapin' bitches. Damn videogames! Oops, I've never played GTA...

I'm not sure if it was just the business culture, but the abundance of Bluetooth earsets was amazing. People weren't as annoying on their phones as last time (f*cking push-to-talk), but there is still a much larger abundance of people talking to loud on their phones compared to Japan.

A'ight. I'm off for computer repairs and shopping, then on down to AR to see my friends. Probably won't be accessing SG for the next few days though.

Oooh you're right, I've already sent it to a few friends! You're making me miss Law and Order with this site, and Fred Savage is on. haha

Also, thank you and yes those are strawberries...you can see how I couldn't resist buying it. It's SOOO cute.

What did you do in Japan? Just a trip, or something more?
