Today I am dedicating our Spooky Movie Blog to the horror flick, "The Ritual". I stumbled across "The Ritual" On Netflix. This is a 2017 UK film.
"Reuniting after the tragic death of their friend, four college pals set out to hike through the Scandinavian wilderness. A wrong turn leads them into the mysterious forests of Norse legend, where an ancient evil exists and stalks them at every turn."
Netflix suggested that the potential match for me liking "The Ritual" was pretty high. And Holy shit Batman, was Netflix wrong.
1. I was kind of into the beginning of the movie. I had to turn the volume way the fuck up because it was extremely quiet which I knew I would regret later when spooky shit started happening. The beginning was set up nicely though. I will give you that. It well explained what the guys were doing in the middle of the wilderness. Kind of gave you a tender way to connect to the characters. So I will give the movie credit for an interesting beginning.
2. Can we just talk about how ANNOYING this actor and character were!? I felt the acting out of the others was fairly decent for the film... but how this actor was cast is beyond me. I'm not even going to bother looking at the credits or googling his name. It's not worth my time. All I can say is you've been warned.
3. This is just one of those movies where you find yourself non stop going "No don't do that! Don't go over there!" but of course the character do that and of course they go over there. It's seems like lazy writing. 
4. That ending. What? Did they run out of time? Or money? It just ended sort of ended and we were supposed to accept the ending.
5. I watched the movie twice okay guys? I've had a couple friends watch the movie and call it "a trip". So maybe it's right for you. But I just didn't love it. The first time I watched it, I fell asleep towards the end. Not wanting to write it off I watched it again and was even less interested. But to each their own. I'd rate this movie 30/100. 30% of the time I enjoyed it and found it interesting.
