For the Bible Tells Me So
Director:
Daniel Karslake

I sat, moved, in the same theater as the first openly gay Episcopal bishop for this awesome documentary. I stood, along with the entire audience, to applaud him descending to the front of the theater for the QA session that followed. My dogma-less existence makes this film's questions irrelevant personally, but important nonetheless; realizing how many people are at once religious and gay and in constant conflict with what they are made to believe is an abomination and what ultimately defines them--their sexuality.
"For the Bible Tells Me So" follows the journey of five religious families and their struggle to accept their gay members in the face of hate-filled evangelizing groups who commit sins of violence and rage at the behest of a few obscure passages in the bible that condemn homosexual acts--some of which appear alongside declarations of truly laughable capriciousness (see http://www.godhatesshrimp.com/).
So, even as I found myself wondering why anyone would subject himself to the arbitrary whim of religion, I empathized with these families whose love for one another trumps any outside opinion that would otherwise divide them.
Expect a wide release of this very popular and non-divisive Sundance film, and take a homophobe to open their mind.

Hello. Thanks for finding me on here! It's late, but i thought i'd say hi real quick. I would love to see that film! I haven't been to Park City yet, but i did see a couple screenings in Ogden ("Once" & "Eagle v.s. Shark"), and still have the "best of fest" shows on tuesday!...I'm hoping for "teeth" (after peeking at your last post)

If you liked Napoleon Dynamite, watch "eagle v.s. shark"

goodnight,
Matt

Sigur Ros...really?! Fucking perfect.

Please, please tell me you saw them when they played The Depot last year.

The first time i saw the video for track 1 (), I froze. I don't think your reaction had anything to do with being hormonal (the harem, maybe!). I'm not ashamed to say they've made me tear up a little before (see them live!). In a..i can't fucking believe i just heard/witnessed that kind of way. I noticed you liked them, and that made my day.

And you love Secretary!

I think your plans are genius. I'm not so sure i'm worthy of an application, but i might crash the party.

*sigh*

it's 3 am. I should sleep.

I'll come back for a proper introduction sometime. I loved your pictures, btw.
