When I was at work today, my manager said he needed to talk to me. He said I hadn't done anything wrong, he just had to inform me of something. I didn't want him to wait to tell me. The 15 or so minutes I had to wait for him to tell me drove me crazy enough. I hate it when someone says you need to have a talk and then makes you wait. I was thinking that he was going to tell me that Mo was taking an activation from me or something. I was in no way prepared for what he told me.

Apparently, I am a joke.

So let's give you the whole story, just in case you don't know me too well. I work for T-Mobile. I work at their corporate store. When you deal with me you are dealing with T-Mobile...despite the fact that we only have a kiosk in the mall and not a store. Of all the stores in our district, we have the crappiest location. Our regional manager said that himself. Our location is crappy. We are not in a high traffic area.
Every cell phone company has other companies that resell their service. You see 'em on the strip. Wireless Toyz, Wireless Giant, Wireless for You. They always have signs for free phones out front. Their building is decorated with every carrier and manufacturer brand name. You realize these are not company owned stores.
Now the mall kiosk's are harder to spot. They maybe just sell one carrier. So their sign says T-Mobile, with the words 'authorized dealer' very VERY small underneath. They would be the guys in suits and ties hollering at you as you're walking down the hallway. "Can I ask you a question? Can I ask you a question?" These are the people of The Mobile Solution. These are the people that are trained by their company to say whatever they need to say to get you to activate service.
There is a Mobile Solution kiosk in our mall. It is a whole 208 feet away from our kiosk...yet it is at the main entrance of the mall. The indirect dealer has the best spot in the whole place. It is these people, that I am a joke to. Yet these are the people that come down to our store to activate their personal lines of service to get a phone they know is new and to not sign a duel contract. So Trevor, whom I activated back in March and then deactivated in March, came back to get a phone in his own name again. Of course this is a whole 15 days after his 90 period in which I would get the reactivation credit. Yeah. Anyway, Trevor goes on to tell Mo how everyone in their store hates me and thinks I'm a terrible sales person and how I'm just one big joke. They get a kick out of stealing my activations. They have a cork board of my business cards from every activation they have stolen from me. They laugh about it. They make a game about it. They say I couldn't close a sale if the customer was begging for it.
Maybe I'm not the best salesperson in the world. I never once said I was. But that is just rediculous.
All I can say is, at least I don't lie to my customers to get a sale closed. Of course, the only thing I can do to have them NOT steal my customers is to never let a customer leave without activating. That, and I've started telling customers just how horrible The Mobile Solutions is (which we're not supposed to do, but oh well. I don't give a shit if I miss that point on the mystery shop. Fuck 'em. Fuck 'em right in the ass.)

So people, if you're going to get a phone any where, make sure it is not an indirect dealer. Be wary of the words, authorized dealer/agent. And for pete's sake, read the contract you are signing!!!
