Today marks the beginning of my third week on the P90x routine. The first week was BRUTAL - I was more tired and sore than I've ever been in my entire life, but that all faded away once I got into the second week. So far, I've lost about 7 pounds, and I find that I have a LOT more energy than I did previously. Of course, a lot of that can also be attributed to eating more often to keep my metabolism up - not to mention just eating better food in general. No fast food in the past two weeks at all (unless you count Subway, which I don't), and no soda or candy or junk food. So far, so good.

I'm trying to push myself a little harder this week, because next week is more of a rest/recovery week before moving onto the second phase of the routine. In my case, it's probably going to be more like P120x, because with the sales conference in Vegas next month and my potential trip to Indiana in September, it's going to be rough to maintain the strict schedule the plan calls for. I figure I'll take my resistance bands with me on both trips and do some modified versions of the routines each day in my hotel room, and then resume the schedule when I return home.

In other news, I went to the Rockstar Mayhem Festival last Friday to catch Marilyn Manson's set. This meant having to sit through nearly an hour of Slayer, during which I was unable to differentiate one song from the next, and during which I watched drunken white-trash redneck idiots set fire to the lawn about eight different fucking times, roll around on the ground with each other, and pray.

Yes, they prayed.

The Manson set was sort of a mixed bag for me. It's the third time I've seen him at a festival-type show, and as I expected, the bulk of the set was made up of the radio hits. A fun time, but all in all it wasn't nearly as good as the show Bart and I went to a couple of years ago in Ohio. Of course, I've always enjoyed shows at small venues better, and in that case he DID play nearly two hours, as opposed to the 55 minutes we got on Friday. There WERE one or two surprises ("Four Rusted Horses" FTW), but I was more than a little disappointed that he didn't play a single song from "Portrait" or from "Eat Me Drink Me."

Meh.

I got a kitten last night. I've been wanting to get a pet of some sort for awhile now, and over the weekend a lady that shops in my store asked if I knew anyone that wanted a cat. Yes, please. Kate went with me to be the kitty-wrangler, and I chose a mellow, fluffy little part-Siamese one. The transition hasn't been very easy, however - she was taken from an environment with five or six other kittens and a couple of dogs, and she's been VERY vocal about how lonely she finds her new surroundings. I only got a couple hours of sleep last night, because she kept waking me up by sitting on my chest and yowling at me.

She's been a little better this evening - still crying, but less frequently, and for shorter periods of time. She's done a fantastic job of ignoring all of her toys, but she's fallen in love with the scratching pad I got for her today - most likely because it's filled with catnip. She's spent very little time actually using it for its intended purpose, but has taken two naps on it since I got home, and occasionally wanders over to rub her face on it.

Oh, and her name is Donut. If you catch the ultra-nerd reference, then good for you.
