Well, I promised more frequent updates, so here I am in front of the computer on a Sunday afternoon, listening to catchy pop-punk tunes and waiting for the washing machine to finish so that I can take a shower.
The diet and workout regimen continues to go as planned, although I did cheat a little bit on Thursday, having a few drinks over lunch with a friend of mine. Aside from that, I'm pretty proud of myself for sticking with this, and I'm slowly starting to see results. I've dropped about nine pounds so far, and I've noticed an increase in the amount of energy I have. Doing 30 minutes of cardio every morning helps me start the day with a feeling of accomplishment, not to mention gives my metabolism quite a jolt to get me going. All in all, I feel great.
As far as work goes, the folks in Human Resources declined my request for a Leave of Absence, so it looks my last official day with Game Crazy is coming up in less than two weeks. I can't say that I'm terribly surprised by the decision, but I'm not too terribly concerned. Shawn has already told me that if things don't work out for me with my new career move, he would always have a spot on his team for me, so I can take a certain amount of comfort in that. I've done my orientation and paperwork for GoDaddy, so now it's just a matter of getting started. I'd by lying if I said I wasn't at least a little apprehensive about such a big change, but in keeping with my nature, I'm trying to be optimistic.
Shawn was also gracious enough to allow me to take my remaining vacation time at the end of my resignation notice, so I'll be going back to visit Indiana for a few days. I had originally planned to go at the beginning of January, but taking over the new store put that plan on the back burner for awhile. I'll be arriving on the 25th, and coming back here to Phoenix on the 1st, just in time to start my new job the following day. It'll be good to see Mom and James again, not to mention Mia, Bart, and of course, the Poker Night folks.
So that's the news. I'm gonna clean up around the apartment, grab a shower, and try to relax. So long.
