Within a week of waking up...the next phase of my recovery began.
Therapy...strength building. The best in the country...they told my family...is Rancho Los Amigos.
About 45 minutes away. They transported me by ambulance.
Hey...can we turn the siren on?

I just left a room full of people who knew me best. Now I felt surrounded by strangers.
These people had never even seen me in their lives. Completely oblivious.
Some of these guys didn't even look at me when we were within 10 feet of each other.

I lost my popularity. What a RUDE awakening. I began to understand just how BIG the world is.

Everybody knew me...wherever I went. School, sports or my neighborhood. I walked on water.
Sure...there were times when I'd meet new people at parties,
but then my group of friends immediately expanded.
What a shelterd life I lived...I just didn't know it-
