My friends once wanted to start an existentialist street gang. Our encounters would go something like this:

We'd smack a kid at the University of Chicago upside the head with Kierkegaard's Either/Or boxed set and then would confront him angrily as he lies on the ground, "The pain you're feeling is merely a manifestation of pain you're NOT willing to deal with. You will be a better man when you realize this and stand up." Then we'd walk away.

Really, it was just an excuse to smack someone upside the head.
