Oh my 😂😂

I got my first job when I was 16. I worked at a Starbucks near my high school. My first day was pretty tough, we lived in a metropolitan area and the location was super busy all of the time.

I walked home my first day. It was pretty hot outside. I remember being super bubbly and proud that I survived an 8 hour shift TALKING to people. I was a very awkward kid and I was happy to have been told I had done well.

I was crossing the intersection to get to my side of the road, and while the pedestrian sign was on; someone hit me. She hit me with her drivers side headlight and sent me flying across the median. Of course everyone stops. I get up, I think I’m mostly fine but quite shocked.

This lady! She looks at me and gives me a thumbs up, and says “you good?” And at that moment, I thought so. So I say yeah. She just drives away. I stand there for a second and think, “some nerve of this bitch.”

I waddle on home. And I tell my mom the story. She’s wondering if we should have gotten insurance involved. I was the kind of person to always be okay, even if I wasn’t. I took off my slacks and my whole side is all kinds of bruised up. I’m scratched and bleeding, still quite confused. I was totally sore for a few days, but no breaks or sprains.

That was a hell of a first day.

I worked there for a few months until I moved up to Vermont. No more work related accidents after that.
