Drama at work. How can one person make so many people miserable? Why can't people just be nice and helpful? This one Secretary won't lift a finger to help out her co-workers. One lady was working on a project for the Deputy Director so she asked her backup for the day to go on the runs for her which are stops at Court, Law Office, Finance etc. She said no, meanwhile everyone picks up her pieces because she's always late, calls in sick and doesn't do her job. So, I tattled... I hate being that way, but the other Secretary is much to valuable to our office. So she got talked to. Not that it ever helps because this is not the first time. She just needs to be fired! mad She's the type that always turns into the victim. I mean in everything! Plus she tells everyone who will listen for more than 2 seconds ALL of her business which includes some fucked up shit. She cheated on her husband with a former employee who was also married, who was in the middle of an adoption, then her husband assaulted her which was pretty bad, when she was trying to leave him. She has 2 kids, 1 is an adult and one was about 11 at the time. She leaves the kids with the husband and the only reason we can come up with for her doing that is it would have cramped her style to have a kid living with her. So she divorced her husband and he got a girlfriend. She started dating another guy who just got out of jail, then wound up back in a halfway house. She hardly had anything to do with her kids, but spoiled his kids. This man never even wanted to meet her kids and she would ditch her kids to spend time with this guy. Meanwhile, her husband got thrown in jail because he violated his probation from the assault charges against her and he didn't complete any of his court ordered services. She finally gets rid of the creep who wouldn't meet her kids and started dating another guy. He would be a great choice of guys, but it's still scandalous because his wife had died only a week or two before they started talking. He was actually coming into our office for assistance with her burial. She died in a car accident, so it wasn't like she was sick and he new this would eventually happen. Meanwhile, her husband tried to give her back the house, which got caught up in some really, really backwards politics with the court systems, and she had to take her kids. So she moved back onto the reservation with her family. I will say that some very bad stuff has happened to her, but I don't have much sympathy in most cases because so much of it was self-induced. I don't think it was okay for her to get beat up by her ex-husband. I never agree with that. It was the first time he'd ever laid a hand on her and she wound up in an air-evac so that was very ugly.

So enough about that... me on the other hand. I've got so much homework to do and I've volunteered to do some of my friends taxes for them. Oy Vay!!! They're so lucky I've got nothing but love for them.

I'm sorry this got so long. It tuned into the whole life story of the worthless secretary. But I'm sure if you ever showed up at my office, you would hear it straight from the horses mouth.

Hasta...

i'm looking for a clerical/receptionist position. i haven't done anything like it for a while but i am looking for something with regular hours & regular pay. with retail you never know what your paycheck is gonna look like surreal

that's a bummer about your coworker. i think every business has one. people who have a victim mentality bug me. nearly all of us have faced some amount of shit in our lives, its just a matter of how you choose to deal with it. i hope she's out of your hair soon! smile

Other than the younger girls complaining that the older ladies are mean and the older ladies complaining that the younger girls are lazy, we hardly speak at work. One other gal and I are trapped in the middle agewise and just try to work our asses off with a smile. I wonder what they say about us...

All of my old jobs had everyone sharing all the gorey details of their (our) lives. I sort of miss it (the bitch sessions and the camaraderie) but it definately taught me that people set themselves up for failure.
