It's such a sad thing when the Matriarch of a family passes. My Grandmother in Law died last night and even though she was 81 and had a very fulfilling life, it still hurts to see them go and to say goodbye.

It takes me back to when I lost my own Grandmother and how Sad I felt then that my children would never meet her. She died when I was 16 so there was a lot she would miss in our lives. But she was peaceful and no longer in pain from the cancer that took her body so fast.

I recently lost a friend who was only 51 who died of a massive heart attack. He had Coronary Disease, Diabetes and had a kidney transplant some years back. Even though his health wasn't perfect, he never came across as sickly. It made his passing a shock. At his wake, something was said that can help someone with religion cope. I am Catholic, and not necessarily a good one, but I do believe. He said, "to be vacant from your body is to be present with the Lord."

I know that Nana Mom is present with the Lord. She's also present with her husband who died four, almost five years ago. She lost twins when they were babies. They were born sickly and died during a cold winter after becoming very sick just a few months apart. I know she's with them, takiing care of them now in Heaven. And she's probably whipping up some tortilla's and panecito for them all. I wonder if she and my Nana have found each other since they did know each other. Maybe she's told them about my beautiful babies and how Jason and I have a very nice life together. My Nana liked the Casino's even though they weren't around Arizona very long before she passed. If there's a casino in Heaven, maybe NanaMom is teaching her a thing or two about Bingo and the new modern slot machines. NanaMom was always going to Bingo. That and Gardening were probably her favorite past times. She was also ALWAYS trying to feed someone. "Are you hungry Mijo?" would be the first thing she asked Jason when we'd go visit.

I'm going to miss you Nana Mom, you who always asked about everyone. You always asked how my family was doing. Everyone should have a Grandmother like you in their life. I love you!
