I was walking with my friend Alex in uptown tonight. A small group of skinheads was walking a little while ahead of us. They turned down an alley and he was nervous enough that we had to walk yards out of the way to make sure that they wouldn't jump him (he's black and has apparently had this problem in the past). They didn't do anything, but the fact that this was necessary made me very sad.
