Isn't 7 beautiful? hehe. I love photoshop. What exactly are you trying to do? you want to make a desktop? Okay, well if you are using a photograph and want it to look good, but keep the file size down make your image size big and set the resolution to 72dpi (this can all be done in the Image>Image size.) If you are using the program to paint, you can set the canvas up in the file>new dialog box. The go to town with the tools and filters and save it as a Jpeg. It's a really big program, and the intimidating thing about it is that there are about 10 ways to execute the exact same task. I can probably answer any question you might have. feel free to email me.

I was just using Sound Recorder for the sounds...when you save it, you can change the format and tweak the quality/size a little bit. I was using 22.5KHz, and 86K/s, 16bit stereo. But yeah if it's over like 8 seconds, it's going to be at least 1mb.
