November 13 - Update-
So as it turns out the Yeah Yeah Yeahs did not open for Interpol. That might just be for the best in the end. Those two bands on the same bill would have been sensory overload for me. Interpol, however, rocked.
It was the fourth time I've seen them, but it was the first time they really did a full set. The first time I saw them was in Portland, Oregon on a Sunday night and they had just played in Seattle on Friday and Saturday. You could tell that it was a short set, because it was a smaller city and off peak night. The next two times I caught them was as openers on the Curiosa tour and they were only given 45 minutes. Last night they played a full hour and a half. 'Next Exit' was the perfect first song launching them straight into 'Say Hello to the Angels.' The remainder of the show was a balance of songs from both albums ending with 'Roland.' The first two song encore was 'Lief Erikson' followed by 'PDA.' And to close off the night the ended with their former opening track, 'Untitled.'
It was a great show considering they don't move around all that much or talk in between songs at all. The true energy lies in the power and perfection with which they play their songs. The layers of guitars, the incredible rhythmns, and outstanding basslines.
We followed up the night with a couple of drinks at a local Irish bar that I hit every now and again when I'm in NYC. It's always a loud and fun place, and last night was no exception. There was a huge group of guys out for a bachelor party. They guy to be married was dressed up in a skirt, and his friends were really giving it to him good. But they were having so much fun singing and laughing that it just lit up the entire place. All in all a good night out.

Tomorrow night... Interpol live. Rumor is the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are opening. That would just be too much.
Lief Erikson
She says it helps with the lights out
Her rabid glow is like braille to the night.
She swears I'm a slave to the details
But if your life is such a big joke, why should I care?
The clock is set for nine but you know you're gonna make it eight.
So that you two can take some time, teach each other to reciprocate.
She feels that my sentimental side should be held with kid gloves
But she doesn't know that I left my urge in the icebox
She swears I'm just prey to the female,
Well then hook me up and throw me, baby cakes, cuz I like to get hooked.
The clock is set for nine but you know you're gonna make it eight.
All the people that you've loved they're all bound to leave some keepsakes.
I've been swinging all the time, think it's time to learn your way.
I picture you and me together in the jungle it will be ok.
I'll bring you when my lifeboat sails through the night
That is supposing you don't sleep tonight
It's like learning a new language
Helps me catch up on my mime
If you don't bring up those lonely parts
This could be a good time
It's like learning a new language,
You come here to me.
We'll collect those lonely parts and set them down
You come here to me...
She says brief things, her love's a pony
My love's subliminal
