Ah, this past weekend was great. Well, most of it was.

I took the train down to Baltimore to meet up with JamieLee and her coworker to then drive up to Pittsburgh for my dj gig at penny's Panty Party. The weather was mostly clear all day until we got on the road. It progressively got worse and worse until we were right in the middle of Hurricane Ivan. I have to commend Jamie for really being a trooper through the whole thing. There were times when I thought we weren't going to make it home alive, and yet she remained calm and focused and got us there in one piece, albeit a little late. What can you say though, there were floods, mudslides, and horrendous amounts of traffic and reroutes to contend with.

The gig itself was fun and funky. The turn out for all things considered was much bigger than I had expected. And loads of people were stripped down to their skivvies. I had a blast playing stuff I wouldn't normally dj even though I've never djed on cd decks before. Quite a challenge when you are used to being able to touch the record and spot exactly where the needle is and how much of the song is left to play. I guess I did an alright job given the circumstances.

Saturday was brilliant. First we met up with penny again and went to the Carnegie Museum. That was a boatload of fun. There was bugs in jars, dinosaur skeltons, and a huge display of a man getting mauled by a lion. That took the cake. Then we followed it up by heading over to Eye Candy to get me a new tattoo. I am so fucking happy with the results. It's a John Held Jr. drawing of a flapper from the cover of Life Magazine Feb. 18, 1926.

She's sexy!

Saturday night myself, JamieLee and penny got all fancied up and went off to dinner at an Italian restaurant. We looked so stylish and the food was incredible. After a spot of tea back at penny's we called it an early night. It had already been a long weekend.

After a nice breakfast on Sunday morning we had some Cold Stone ice cream and then we made our way back to Baltimore. Another quick dinner at TGIFridays and then I was on my way home to NJ.

Thanks to penny for booking me to play and showing us the sights of good 'Ole Pittsburgh. To Jamie Lee for driving and being a great travel companion. And special thanks again to Amtrak for making the minimalism world tour affordable and cost effective by letting me ride for free. You guys are the best.

Yay, you got the flapper tattoo! It's beautiful.

Erm...I'm kind of OK. Could be worse, but I'm having some fairly serious surgery that week. Again, could be worse.
