Currently, I have a cake in the oven (chocolate with cinnamon and cloves and black pepper--yum!) and am worrying over the state of Rwanda. I have been checking out the Rwanda Partners website and think I might donate some money to them when I'm finished moving. Also check out the following interactive map to see just how imperialism played out on the African continent.
I am lucky to have made it to this age without having personally witnessed atrocities against my family, friends or community. Not everyone is so lucky.

The UN troop leader, Romeo Dallaire, recently wrote a book about his experiences. Basically nobody listened to him and they didn't have enough troops. Some Belgian troops of his got massacred too.
