I couldnt seem to express how i am really feeling right now, so i disconnected myself from life, and wrote a fairy tale. It has not been edited and was written emotionally.. rather, numb.
Read on if you wish, i think its a good storyline, but could use lots of grammatical work. But its how i feel. To those about to continue reading... thank you.
"HOW SHE DEALT"
Once upon a time...
there was a princess, well, not a real princess, but since this is a story, we shall call her that. For a long time the princess put up with many suitors. Most of them made her feel like a frog, others she chased but was too slow to catch up with thier mighty steeds. Finally, one day while wandering thru the forest she came upon another prince. He was cocky, smart, adorable, and had the most kissable lips.
Soon the prince and princess formed thier own land, exiling many jesters and wenches which helped pave the way for thier bright future. Then one day the prince was called to go fight for thier kingdom. He had no choice but to leave his princess, as he had accepted thousands of gold pieces from the King to be in the Royale Guard. The prince however, figured he would just use the gold to live happily with his princess, but alas, he was sent away.
The princess was beyond sad. She locked herself in the castle tower with nothing but her cat, a cozy bed and many nightgowns. Food was slid under her door daily, as she would not open the dead bolt. She also recieved small bundles of herbs carried by falcons to her tower window. The falcon's weekly deliveries helped keep her sound of heart.
One day after nearly a year of holding herself hostage in her tower, she heard the news shouting in the square that the Royale Guard would be returning very soon. She was elated! The princess tossed her night gowns from the tower, grabbed her cat and returned to her palatial bed chamber to prepare herself for the arrival of her prince. She even began going out in public and having more fun because the light at the end of the tunnel was too close to stay sad. She began to make plans for the decoration of the new palace, she began to pack away all the things she no longer needed. She had the tower demolished so that her prince would never have to see where she rested for the year he was away. The princess was finally beginning to feel alive again!
One morning she heard a rattle at her window, it was the falcon that delivered her herbs each week, but this time he carried no herbs, just a note. It read:
"By decree of the King, all warriors serving in the Royale Guard will remain in battle for another 120 days, or until further notice"
The princess dropped the scroll and slammed her crystaline window in the falcons face while her royal catness smacked at it thru the closed window. Immediatly she left her bed chamber and ran to the stairs of her tower that had nested her for so long, alas, when she arrived at the door to the stairs, it was bolted and nailed closed with wood, as there were no longer stairs, and no longer a tower to hide in. So she ran thru the castle looking for somewhere to feel safe, somewhere to hide from the world. But all she found were windows and unlocked doors.
It was realized quickly that walls, windows and locks couldnt comfort her. She longed for a small space of her own where the nursemaids did not look down on her. Finally, one night during a huge storm she ran outside while the stinging rain beat thru her nightgown, and she cried. She cried for an answer, she screamed at the skies, she wished for her true love to return. She wished for someone to hold her tight and comfort her. When the storm began to rage and the lighting crashed down, she ran thru the soaked grass heading for the castle doors. She felt something slip under her foot, but alas, she was too afraid to look back, but a flash of lightning startled her into one last glance. And there, in the grass, illuminated by a flash of light was a dead frog, the slippery thing she stepped on. Remembering the fairy tales she had heard as a child she burst into tears feeling as if she had crushed her prince. She fell to the ground, landing face up. The rain washed over her, as if she was inside of a wave.
That morn when the landscapers found her in the lying face up, nightgown soaked sheer, skin pale, and lavendar. Clasped in her hand was what had once resembled a frog.
Days later, it was said that she had died of a drowning. However, there was no explanation for this as it hadnt rained in months and she was nowhere near a pond.
Some say her sadness and tears were not strong enough to express her emotions and her pain made the skies cry upon her. In the end, she ultimately drowned in her own pool of tears.
The tower she had lived in was soon rebuilt and they placed her in there lovingly with care, along with the dismantled frog. The doors were barred closed, and to this day, people still see her in the tower window, waiting for her prince to return.
