Can you remember when you lost your innocence? I don't just mean sexually. I mean what time in your life changed you. Made you see that things weren't always going to be alright. That there wouldn't be someone there to shield you from bad things. I think my time was middle school. There was this kid who was twice my size. He used to push me around for no good reason. He even spit on me. I didn't understand why he was doing these things. But I didn't have anyone to hide behind. I hated that kid. Now I hate tough guys types with a passion. Other things have had a pretty big impact on me over the years. That was just an example. Damn I hated school.

I was seven. I was staying at my grandmother's home. I was staying there with my older brother and my baby sister because my dad's father (papa partain) was in the hospital. My brother and I got to watch "Carrie." I had a nightmare that paralleled the end of that movie, but the tombstone was for papa partain. I woke up in a cold sweat. Later that morning, my parents returned home to tell me that papa partain had died that night.

Second grade, I don't like to talk about it though. It was the beginning of my shyness, too. It humiliated and ruined me.
