So this coming Easter Sunday it will be my 20 year anniversary from the first time I went snowboarding. The first ten years I ate, slept, breathed and even worked snowboarding, the last ten have been pretty much just goin up a few times a year. Then again since I've lived in Oregon I've only gone up maybe 4 times in 6 years but I guess a lot of that is due to a fucked up anxiety condition that happens when I do strenuous activity. Go figure? Anyway I'm trying to get myself to get up more often this year so I went shopping...or I should say looking for gear yesterday at REI ( cause I had a gift card) and then over to EXIT real world shop. Are you fucking kidding me!? That's all I could think the whole time, shit is out of control in that damn industry. Who the fuck pays $300 to $500 for a nice 'cool' brand jacket? The only thing that has stayed the same is the price of boards which actually since there are soooo many board companies and so many that have gone under and they have made more boards than we can consume the marked is flooded with overstock. So, if you know where to look you can get good new boards for under $150. I guess with the money you can save on a nice new deck you can afford to buy a new jacket for $300+ right? Then again maybe my real problem was looking in the Pearl district for snowboard stuff. Guess the old jacket will have to do for now. Pants and boots have only been used about 6 times so no worries there.
