Guess it's about time for a new blog wink. Been meaning to write one for days, just never got around to it. So here it goes smile.

Well, I was planning to make lasagna last wednesday, but I just wasn't hungry. So my "dinner" consisted of some nuts. I made some lasagna today though, for monday and tuesday. I normally don't like eating the same two days in a row, but I'm kinda trying to save on my expenses a bit tongue.
Thursday I had dinner at my parents, nothing too eventful. Friday I went out to dinner with my department from work. It was ok, but I always hate the restaurants we go to. I don't like fish (pretty much only like fresh tuna), and I don't eat meat that's still raw/red (like carppachio. I do eat my tuna rare though, tuna seems to be an exception to everything tongue. Anyway, I'm drifting off, time to go back to the story wink. Oooh, this reminds me of Catcher in the Rye, where he wanders off for 2 pages then goes "oh yeah, back to my story". I love that book. O, right, dinner), or organ meat. Guess what's my boss' favourite? Yeah.
We had steak tartare of salmon as an amuse, with some sauce made of oysters (chopped up smoked salmon made into a patty basically), I gave mine to my co-worker next to me, he seemed to like it. As starters, we could pick between pike (fish, see above) and pat (organ meat (liver), see above), so skipped that. Then the next course, we could choose between cauliflower puree and game croquettes. The croquettes were ok, though I still prefer veil or beef ("normal" croquettes). But they definetly weren't bad smile.
The main course was either grilled seabass, filet of beef with portabello mushrooms, or saltimbocca with risotto. I was kinda torn between the 2 latter, but decided on the saltimbocca. Which was a good bet smile, because the filet of beef was pretty red. The saltimbocca was actually pretty nice smile. Though I prefer my own risotto wink. Restaurants always make it too dry, so they can make those fancy stacks. If you remember my last blog, you know that risotto needs to be oozy, not stackable wink.
Desserts were either pears with "boerenjongens" (raisins in brandy), chocolate cake with red cabbage ice cream, or a lemon tarte with home made vanilla ice cream. I don't drink, so the pears were out, which left the chocolate cake and the lemon tarte. I don't like red cabbage though, and red cabbage ice cream just seems wrong (ice cream needs to be sweet/fruity), and I usually like lemon tartes, so I chose the latter. Which I regretted all night! It was horrible, I tasted it all night!. The whole tarte tasted like lemon skin. And I don't mean the zest, I mean the really bitter white skin. It made it taste like the tarte had gone off. Most of my co-workers had the lemon tarte also (alse because of the red cabbage ice cream with the chocolate tarte wink), and they felt the same way, too. So it wasn't just my* taste buds that were too picky wink.

I did have a nice evening though, had a good time with the people on my end of the table smile.

Think that was about it the past week. smile

Oh, and I'm kinda in an old skool mood music wise this week it seems. Have had a couple of songs off of Bush's first album in my head, and now I'm listening to the Home Alive album (2 CD's), which stems from the peak of the grunge era.
Oh, and I'm still in a break making mode it seems smile. Also partly because home made bread is cheaper than store bought (especially if you include the cold cuts etc) wink. After cinnamon bread and chocolate chip bread last week, I'm now making raisin bread smile.

P.S. I take requests for recipe/food pic blogs smile. So if you have a good idea for something for me to make, drop me a message or comment. If I can do it, I will smile.

Edit: What's with some people? So paranoid. You try to be nice when someone is having a rough time, and they send back a pissy message to mind my own fucking business. I'll think twice before trying to make someone feel better next time.
