Had a busy day yesterday. Part fun, part bleh. But overall not too bad smile.

The day started with me waking up early to catch the 7 AM train to work. We were gonna get new furniture. I work in a hospital, so they do the big deliveries on the weekend, when it's not so crowded. Seeing I work in the outpatients clinic, the entire building was closed, and I had to use the security gate on the bridge with the other building. Inconvenient, but not too bad.
I was just unhooking the computers when the furniture people came, that was the last thing on and in the desks. They then told me that they didn't move the old stuff, they just install the new. Seeing I was the only guy in the department, I had to move all the desks and tables (20 years old, so all steel and pretty darn heavy) by myself. I can tell you, I broke quite a sweat wink. Fortunatly, we didn't have any cabinets after we moved a few weeks ago.
And oh, did I tell you I get time for time? So I don't get paid extra for this, I can only compensate with another day.

Anyway, had some better times after that smile. I work in Amsterdam, and decided to go downtown for some shopping. Needed a few things. First stop was the Albert Cuijp market, a fairly big street market with pretty much anything you can imagine. Based in an old, folksy part of the city, it's very lively, and a nice place to hang out. When I'm there, I can never resist going to a little shop there, called "de Peperbol" (the peppercorn). This store is small, but they have pretty much every dried herb and spice imaginable.

After stocking up on a few spices, and getting some random other stuff from the market (including some nice bedsheets depicting one of Mondriaan's paintings), it was further downtown, I needed some shoes. Though I couldn't resist stopping over at a few bookstores on the way wink. I saw some books by Racheal Ray, I wanted to buy them, but then I realised they weren't translated. Now, I can read english just fine, including the cooking lingo, that wasn't the problem. But all the measurements were in american standards. It would have been a hell of a job converting all the recipes. So I decided to leave the books be for now, and hope some dutch publisher will pick those books up some time. I did buy a book about smoothies and juices, and "The Ilias and Odyssee" by Homer. I love greek mythology and greek history, so couldn't resist. Especially since it was on sale for 5 euros (about 6 dollars) biggrin.
Next was a stop at Lush. Cassy has been talking about Lush for ages, so when I passed the store, I just had to go in wink. Unfortunatly, it was very crowded yesterday frown. I couldn't even see everything the store had to offer, because I had to wait for people to move before i could get to a display. I gave up after seeing about a third of Lush's assortment, but I'll definetly go back another time smile.
Lastly, I bought some shoes. On sale too biggrin, so I didn't have a bad day after all wink.
