this week i have rediscovered that beauty can be found right under our noses. just like the statistic that there is always a rat within 10 feet of us at any time in this country, the same can be said for something remarkable.
it first started with talking to some truly interesting people at a party a few days ago. we chatted politics, travel, and to a certain extent, our lives. isn't it awesome when you are pleasantly surprised by people. it doesn't happen very often but when it does, it really is something special.
then i looked out of my window and realised that the once yellow leaves embellishing the trees had stained to browns and formed a thick carpet of scales on the ground. october if you read this i have been meaning to ask you whether you would like to put on your wellies and crunch with me. oh, and also to collect conkers from brandon hill.
on monday i got precisely 4 dreadlocks and am having lots of fun with them. it's proving slightly tricky not getting them wet when i wash the rest of my hair [which is every day- yikes!] and they feel a little bit itchy but hey, it's hardly like having a thorn in my side.
i just watched the most awe-inspiring documentary on tv and am still reeling from it really. it's called touching the void [did anyone see it?] and is about one man's incredible fight for survival after sustaining a climbing accident in one of the highest mountains in peru. the sheer mental and physical adversity this man faced was astonishing and i urge you to watch/read the book about it because it really helps to put life into perspective.
i've decided to go T total for a while and stick to my original plan of removing all the crap in my life - decluttering, starting with "things" that i don't need/aren't important enough. i also want to stop the cycle of "want" of material things because not only will that save money to do the things that i really want to do i.e. mainly travel, but for me it's the first step to helping me realise what are the things i want from life and what makes me happy.
sound extreme? crazy?
maybe, but i feel that paradoxically, having everything i want at any time is hindering me from learning. so here goes...
i did the most awful thing today. i slagged off a nice but very lecherous man who perves over me, to a friend via text message but accidently sent it to the guy. damn.
