Today I have wished to be in China and Burma, living like a buddhist monk, then I wished to be on a snowboard, riding the troughs of some lonely mountain, then I nipped over to ireland to drop in on pedigree_chump in his stony cottage by the sea.
But all this is fantasy...for now..
In reality tho I have had a lovely day. Today I went with my mum to Kew Gardens, an oasis of 400 acres slapped bang in the middle of greater london. there we saw many exotic things: huge disc-like waterlilies, glaucous pitcher plants, beaded cocoa plants and myriad other delights. my favourites were the trees: the oak and ash and biloba. tall and grand and ever weathering they stood, and i loved them for it.
I have recently been making a visual diary, basically a diary where you can put any old crap in as long as its creative in some way. thus, lyrics are allowed, as are bits of string, leaves, sketches. I'm having a lot of fun with it so far and am just in the middle of embellishing a poem with some unusual stars. The poem is elvish and I can hear some of you groan
but it's beautiful for its own aural sake, even if the idea of elves doesn;t float your boat! It goes like this....
A Elbereth Gilthoniel,
silivren penna mriel
o menel aglar elenath!
Na-chaered palan-driel
o galadhremmin ennorath
Fanuilos, le linnathon
nef aear, s nef aearon!
It is a poem of hope and praise in LOTR and it sounds crazy, but like the book, it gives me hope too.
What gives you hope and why, and how important is hope to you?
I hope everyone's having a great weekend. Stay cool all,

what a shame, speak a different elf dialect, can't understand elvish
kew gardens is such a nice place! apart from the air planes that is. once i saw this strange bird there, it looked a bit like a little dinosaur, with really sharp fangs in his beaker and long claws. i'm not kidding, it was eating ants and seemed to belong in a different world.
