I've been slacking in my blog homework lately. I plan to start doing it weekly again, but since I missed so much I'm going to do some old ones as well as current ones. Blog homework is one of my favorite activities on here, so why not! :)
HOMEWORK: what are your holiday traditions?
I will start by saying that I'm not entirely a huge fan of the holidays, in fact, I don't like them one bit, but I am summoned to forever celebrate them due to family. And that's okay. Cause even if I say I don't like them, there may be a little flutter of enjoyment as well.
Anyway, my family and tradition is a little rocky, especially as the years go by. I come from a separated family, so when I was little I would alternate years between each of the sides, and as I got older I got choose. Which was always hard. I always enjoyed my moms more, we had more of a tradition that I was used to. We open one gift on Christmas Eve and then Christmas morning my brother and I take turns every year passing gifts out "Santa" and picking all the wrapping papers and candy wrappers up "elf". Then we proceed to take turns opening them all. That's usually followed by eating a bunch and trying gifts on and out. All while this is happening we play "A Christmas Story" on repeat for 24hrs.
My dad's side, I don't really remember a lot, I was the only kid on that side so I got really spoiled as a child, as I became an adult, I still got spoiled but the traditions were different. I just know I didn't like the way we handed gifts out, cause one person would pick a gift and give it to that person and they would open it and then go pick one and give it and so on and so forth. So sometimes you wouldn't have any gifts and everyone else would have a bunch and you're sitting there and you're bored. This is the mindset of a adolescent me. As an adult it turned to laughs and food and everything was fine.
Christmas now, I don't want to think about. I've been unbelievably broke so I have resorted to hand made gifts, which actually turned out to be fun and I think everyone will like them. But I'm going to my dad's side and this will be the first Christmas without my grandma, and it breaks my heart. I miss her terribly. But aside from that, I look forward to seeing everyone that I don't get to see as often as I'd like to. And I look forward to the food and the mini vacation and for this all to be over.
