I'm back working in retail hell, I'm six years too old and two degrees too qualified to be doing this
Oh well, only till Christmas...
also applied for a choreography gig at the Southwark Playhouse, working on an adaptation of a Wilde short story, cross fingers, toes and tentacles...

a weird weekend...
my best beloved and I were walking up my road late on Saturday night, bemoaning the continued lack of press coverage of our show, when we heard a squeal of breaks, a thump and saw a pair of trainers flying through the air towards us. then we looked down and saw the guy who'd just been hit by a taxi.

I'm glad to hear it was a lovely button! I mean, walking in the rain for an ugly button seems sort of pointless (unless it is spectacularly ugly in which case it's worth the trip just to marvel at it's sheer ugliness!)

I didn't get washed away by water or wine this week but I do the whole thing all over again next week so who knows! But for now, I'm home and I'll be able to surf the net and sleep in my own bed tonight!

My shows Lark Rise and Candleford are up and running, they're doing really well with the audiences and the author said he liked our production of the second play better than the National Theatre's
however, we're not getting the goddamn press in. they seem to be mystified by the fact that it's a double bill...

Londons a bit of a trek for me really, but I'm sure you're shows are doing as well as you say they are. All my critical cynical friends have moved down south so I'll mention the show to them and see what they're up to during the next few days. I myself will be in nottingham attempting to persuade some venture capitalists to buy in to a spin off from a friends research, supposedly I've got a natural gift for marketing... Hmmm more like the gift of the gab.

hope the run is going well... i do have a very good friend who deals with project funding by North West Arts, so if you fancy touring in the Manchester area i could introduce...
when i first went to college (in 1983) another friend and i used to go to Baron's Court quite regularly... there was a barbers shop called Renato's to the right of the station entrance... Renato was/is an old italian barber - my friend had a perfectly level flat-top and I had a swept back 30s style haircut... we would then sit in the window of his cafe next door, drinking frothy coffee out of glass cups, smoking roll-ups, looking cool in our sharp tweed suits with narrow ties while the girls walked past on their way from the tube to the nearby ballet school...
do you know if this place is still there? limited choice of haircuts for me now, but the frothy coffee would bring back good memories...

good day today, but very busy too... induction week next week, so i have been preparing interactive sessions to liven up the poor, scared lil' lovies in their first week... reading up for a future lecture on discourse analysis... researching for my PhD... and catching up on all the gossip...
now i'm listening to Blondie's 'heart of glass' (the first single i ever bought, funnily enough) and thinking of retiring to bed...
hope that the final rehearsals are going well... and that you're managing to fit all the 'i's back in your thesis...

I went to meet a lady blacksmith this morning... odd where life takes you.
been looking at some fab sets, but noticed the UK ones aren't generally as good. maybe because of our perpetual cloudy skies? can't do the lovely outdoor sets like Venice's cos it's too bloody cold. ho hum

Hurrah hurrah! thesis draft is done! although I have a tuorial with my tutor today (obviously with my tutor... hence 'tutor'-ial...) who'll probably bring it all crashing down around my ears again, insisting I remove all the letter 'i's or something. Oh well.
