ooh, ages since I updated...

the shows finish at the weekend *sigh* going to miss everyone.

I'm back working in retail hell, I'm six years too old and two degrees too qualified to be doing this frown Oh well, only till Christmas...

also applied for a choreography gig at the Southwark Playhouse, working on an adaptation of a Wilde short story, cross fingers, toes and tentacles...

Good luck for the interview later today... you should stroll through... but everything is crossed for you anyway... biggrin

it's always sad when a show comes to an end though... mixed emotions this wekend then, huh?

just incase you didn't have enough to do in the meantime TAG!!!! (see my recent journal for details)... tongue
goblintcat:
Meh says the robot indeed! wink

Thank you so much for the link! Of course now I've got to find the series even more desperately!!! smile

Tentacles are still crossed! I shall keep them crossed until you say otherwise! I'll also see if I can grab that magic cat and get you some extra luck! Not that you need it of course, it's..umm...sort of like the spare tire...always good to have around just in case! wink

a weird weekend...

my best beloved and I were walking up my road late on Saturday night, bemoaning the continued lack of press coverage of our show, when we heard a squeal of breaks, a thump and saw a pair of trainers flying through the air towards us. then we looked down and saw the guy who'd just been hit by a taxi.

your mind...

I'm glad to hear it was a lovely button! I mean, walking in the rain for an ugly button seems sort of pointless (unless it is spectacularly ugly in which case it's worth the trip just to marvel at it's sheer ugliness!) wink

Upon looking at the picture of that bear, I have decided it might be in my best intrest to not try and hug one if I happen to encounter one! Thanks for the warning!

I didn't get washed away by water or wine this week but I do the whole thing all over again next week so who knows! But for now, I'm home and I'll be able to surf the net and sleep in my own bed tonight!

Yay me!

quick update after being told off by the lovely Taniss!

My shows Lark Rise and Candleford are up and running, they're doing really well with the audiences and the author said he liked our production of the second play better than the National Theatre's smile

however, we're not getting the goddamn press in. they seem to be mystified by the fact that it's a double bill...

Londons a bit of a trek for me really, but I'm sure you're shows are doing as well as you say they are. All my critical cynical friends have moved down south so I'll mention the show to them and see what they're up to during the next few days. I myself will be in nottingham attempting to persuade some venture capitalists to buy in to a spin off from a friends research, supposedly I've got a natural gift for marketing... Hmmm more like the gift of the gab.
mukki:
hmmmm... do theatre critics have friends? (you don't have to answer that one incase you incriminate yourself)...

hope the run is going well... i do have a very good friend who deals with project funding by North West Arts, so if you fancy touring in the Manchester area i could introduce...

when i first went to college (in 1983) another friend and i used to go to Baron's Court quite regularly... there was a barbers shop called Renato's to the right of the station entrance... Renato was/is an old italian barber - my friend had a perfectly level flat-top and I had a swept back 30s style haircut... we would then sit in the window of his cafe next door, drinking frothy coffee out of glass cups, smoking roll-ups, looking cool in our sharp tweed suits with narrow ties while the girls walked past on their way from the tube to the nearby ballet school...

do you know if this place is still there? limited choice of haircuts for me now, but the frothy coffee would bring back good memories...

can't quite believe it, such an anticlimax... there should have been fireworks and a brass band at least!

I'm an ecologist. Looking at global treeline phenomena in europe and new zealand. So yeah beautiful misty mountains will feature in my life for most of the next three years. What are you planning to do now?
taniss:
Looking conspicuous by lack of update there. Almost as bad as me...tsk tsk.

A special bonus point if you can spot the reference to yourself in my latest piece of writing! wink

Totally unintentional, I assure you!

ooooh... nearly finished... quite an odd feeling surreal

sorry to have vanished for a week, work has more or less taken over my entire brain. any time not spent in rehearsal, on the tube or in front of my computer has been taken up with things like eating, being asleep and slowly decending into academic madness, making little monkey noises and dribbling.

now there's a nice...

busy weekend...

we've had open rehearsals as part of the London open house thingy, useful but knackering, and now I have a week of final rehearsals and thesis editing ahead of me frown

spent the evening trying to draft an invite letter to get lots of theatre bods to come and see the shows I'm working on. self promotion is difficult, I reckon everyone working in...

i'm well thanks... smile

good day today, but very busy too... induction week next week, so i have been preparing interactive sessions to liven up the poor, scared lil' lovies in their first week... reading up for a future lecture on discourse analysis... researching for my PhD... and catching up on all the gossip...

now i'm listening to Blondie's 'heart of glass' (the first single i ever bought, funnily enough) and thinking of retiring to bed...

hope that the final rehearsals are going well... and that you're managing to fit all the 'i's back in your thesis... smile
brokenhouse:
arrrrgh ARRR!!!

hope you're well kitten kiss

I went to meet a lady blacksmith this morning... odd where life takes you.

been looking at some fab sets, but noticed the UK ones aren't generally as good. maybe because of our perpetual cloudy skies? can't do the lovely outdoor sets like Venice's cos it's too bloody cold. ho hum

middle of the night here... emailing bits of thesis to my mum to proofread. I feel like a six year old, getting mummy to check my homework.

think I'm getting a bit odd, working too much. my boy just asked me how I was apart from work and I couldn't remember. two and a half more weeks, then I get my brain back. surreal

"a holy city theme park"
a lovely turn of phrase you have there.

Also, factions would inevitably emerge, each laying claim to the most important parts of the HC theme park. There would be arguments over which faction occupies the choicest parts, eventually escalating into car bombings.

Thus destroying England's green and pleasant land entirely.

Hurrah hurrah! thesis draft is done! although I have a tuorial with my tutor today (obviously with my tutor... hence 'tutor'-ial...) who'll probably bring it all crashing down around my ears again, insisting I remove all the letter 'i's or something. Oh well.

not sure yet how to reply to comments, so sorry to be rude and not reply me darlin's.

Oh, my MA is...
