Whats one assumption others make about you that you wish you could dispel?
There are actually two assumptions about me that I hear regularly.
1. "Oh, I really thought you didn't like me/Oh, you seemed like you thought you were too cool for people."
This has always come across super weird to me, because I'm constantly in an anxious little bubble and I'm just hoping for people to talk to me/like me! Somehow that comes across as me seeming snobbish even though in reality I'm just super shy! Even online! I honestly am really friendly and I love meeting and talking to new people, I just get nervous very easily.
Once people have taken the opportunity to sit down and chat with me, majority realise how laid-back and super goofy I am.
In saying that if you've ever wanted to befriend me, just shoot me a message! I love chatting to people about tv/movies, books, comics or just life in general.
2. "You're smarter than you look."
Now, this one ALWAYS grinds my gears. I receive this comment extremely often from guys I meet and I've had it a lot from past flings. One of my favourite lines was "You're actually smart. I thought you honestly just got through school and life just using your looks." Safe to say I was actually speechless from this comment (and I also stopped seeing the fella, HA!). I guess when I was younger I always gave off this "party persona" and even when I took up SG people assumed I was just a "dumb model". Wrong. In no means am I Albert Einstein but if you want an intelligent conversation, I can do just that. Get me talking about something I'm passionate about like animals, community services, books, film and writing, and I'll just talk your ear off with everything I've learned. People are honestly surprised with how much I know and the things I'm informed about. Apparently being somewhat good looking, or having an alternative appearance means you mustn't know much? Ha. I wish I knew.
Assumptions suck, my dudes. People will always surprise you, there is no harm in giving someone that chance!
