I got "Slanky" for Christmas and I can't put it down
inara:
Hey there Mike. Do you happen to know if the Poemfone: New Word Order disc is still in print? I've been searching all over for it, and am not having any luck. I've searched by name and by Tomato Records, but still haven't found any place I can get my hands on a copy. I'm starting to get bummed. I had a copy, but loaned it out to someone who never returned it 5 or 6 years back. frown

SONGS MY MOTHER HATED:
SHORT FICTION SET TO MUSIC

I and iamsick are putting together a book of short stories - called Songs My Mother Hated: Short Fiction set to Music - all containing a single favotite song lyric. We are now in the process of activly accepting submissions, - we are unfortunately not paying authors immediately, but everyone will share in the book's profits.
The basic rules are simple, find a song lyric, write a story based around it - it doesnt have to be based on the lyric really, but the story must contain the lyric somewhere. ideally the lyric should fit into the story seamlessly, so that unless you recognized the lyric you wouldn't know it wasn't just another part of the story. the word count has to be 500 to 1200 words and include in your submissions a short bio of yourself, the name of the song, the artist and the album, as well as your contact information. make sure all submissions are sent to both cdgetz@hotmail.com and rainermaria@hotmail.com. the deadline for submissions is Dec. 10. So start moving, also feel free to forward this email to as many writers as you wish, we need a lot of stories.

Lately I'm happy all the time. Why? It's weird. Didn't used to be this way.

Check me out, fretting over a surplus of happiness smile

Played the Bowery Ballroom last night; it was kinda awesome. I played with this guy named Thomas Bartlett--nicknamed the Doveman--on piano. Such a beautiful, immaculate player--and he's this 21-year old guy, very, like, cheekboned and pale, and he plays hunched over the piano in this spindly, compelling way.

He played a Wurlitzer, which is this old electric piano that sounds really gritty and bell-like, Fantastic....

Alas, I missed the show. That drunk guy is at every show though. It's actually the same dude. His name is Frank.

New tattoo work today, and I'm a bit sore to say the least. Hope you are keeping warm in this winter wonderland.
