SEATTLE UPDATE
I love this town! Effective, Efficient Public Transit is SUCH a a beautiful thing. We took the bus into the City Center, as we stayed on the outskirts. Got to see a lot more of the city that way. Once we got downtown, we headed straight for teh Space Needle and the Experience Music Project.
The Experience Music Project is a museum dedicated to popular music of the last 50 years, namely rock n' roll. It's extremely high-tech, and had on exhibit some amazing gear (like Electric Lady's audio console on which Jimi cut most of his later work) an amazing collection of guitars with prototypes and early serial models from Gibson and Fender, and completely interactive displays. With small handheld devices, you basically walk up to an exhibit, press a button, and download all the info you could want on it, and listen to, say, the 1830's martin flattop in front of you played by Chet Atkins. NO LIE. We only spent 4 hours in there, but I could have easily spent 4 days. I want to bring every one of my music-loving friends there. It's that fucking sweet.
Next, we wandered around and found an amazing little VEGAN Chinese restaurant, Bamboo Garden. There I ate the best lunch of my life, and for under $20 for the both of us. Who says Seattle is expensive?!
Then we hit an amazing record shop where they had the most extensive selection of BRAND NEW vinyl. Brought home 6 LP's that I'm guessing I'll have to ship to myself. There's no way I'm going to be able to carry them on the plane back home.
After that, we walked down the piers and hit Pike Place Market. Tourist trap, but still kinda cool. They really DO toss fish around.
The busride home was quiet. And the hotel was relaxing and we were alseep by 11. All that walking and sightseeing was exhausting!
