I should be sleeping, but obviously I'm not, so I might as well try to get y'all caught up on how I've been.
In a word? Busy.
Between the two jobs I worked through December...really...the only days I had off between December 1 and January 4 were Christmas day and New Year's day. I took a three day weekend when that fun time was over and slept through most of it.
Christmas was good...went home to the sister's on x-mas eve, the niece had us all up at 6:50am, and fun and family togetherness ensued until I left for home sometime after 8 that night. Tina made out like a bandit, which is to be expected, but the best gift went to my bro-in-law...a new Nintendo Wii.
I got my NERF sniper rifle...it is awesome. I'll get pictures of it one of these days.
New Year's was also a blast...went to my friend's house in South Philly to ring in 0-8. We had alcohol, food, crazy south Philly neighbors, and a small group of us with completely evil senses of humor. The evening started with a nerf gun mexican standoff at the front door. When midnight rolled in one of Marion's neighbors put on a better fireworks display then I've seen most cities do on the Fourth of July...really...it was at least a half an hour long and with professional level fireworks. On New Year's day we had breakfast, then walked down to Broad Street to catch part of the Mummers parade, which is a huge event in Philly (it runs at least 8 hours, has costumes that are so elaborate that they're litterally already working on next year's, and half the parade is string bands). I got no New Year's kiss this year, but hey, what'cha gonna do?
I have been getting out to have a little fun here and there...in fact my friend Stacy and I got to go see an advanced screening of Cloverfield on monday night. They made everybody turn off all electronics and had people with night vision goggles watching the theater to make sure no pictures were taken.
And don't bother asking...I'm not gonna tell you what the monster is, you just have to wait until friday.
It was a fun night...I liked the movie...it wasn't perfect, but it was good. I liked the concept of the story being told from the viewpoint of normal people on the street, and the monster is pretty cool. I would advise one thing though...if you don't like shaky camera shots, you might not want to see it on the big screen...the viewpoint is from a camcorder being carried by a character, so it's a shake-o-rama for most of the film. After the movie Stacy and I grabbed some food and a beer while we were downtown, and made plans to go drinking (she's one of my only friends that will go out drinking for the hell of it and cut loose, and not act like a complete idiot when she does get drunk).
Plans for 2008 include selling out and getting back into a well paying job in the gaming industry (only in PA this time), reestablishing a social life, and learning to juggle (no reason for this one other then Border's Books selling a kit to learn to juggle for $5...I couldn't say no)...I'll work on some more goals later.
So...how're y'all doing?

Have you started working on that book of casino tales?
