I had a really nice weekend. Sent my son off to summer camp, which made me just a tiny bit sad, and then went to the Phoenix Art Museum. They have a Surrealist art exhibit going on right now and it is really fabulous! I had the nicest time. Started by having lunch and a glass of remarkably tasty cheap white zin and then made my way through the exhibit. I saw so much amazing work from primarily the 30's and 40's. It is amazing to see the art illustrate how people and politics have not changed one bit.
I was most moved by an original piece by Frida Kahlo. It is titled "The Suicide of Dorothy Hale. There is a great story behind this painting if you click the link I provided. The girls face is so lovely you want to touch it. Digitizing it or putting it in a book just looses the feeling of seeing the original work. It was truly fabulous and I found it to be incredibly moving. I saw so much beauty it was almost overwhelming. Ill have to go back before the exhibit ends. I adore Frida and her work. Though every piece there was remarkable. Anyone in Phoenix should make a point to go see this.

sometimes I find it more pertinent to say something, than to say something meaningful. How horrible is that?
