Oh woe is me!! I swear, I am not usually this kind of a drama queen! It seems since the beginning of the year I just dont get a moment to rest. I have kept up my spirits and all, but geeze!! What deities Cheerios did I piss in???

I guess I can attribute this one to karma. I grew up in a very small town. When I was in 7th grade, there was a group of 5th graders Id tease now and then. Nothing serious, but you know the usual jabs here and there. It so happened the group became the group of boys my little brother hung with. Even tough we moved far away my brother and those guys have remained friends all of these years. Recently the one I teased more than the others (because I had a HUGE crush on his older brother) came out to visit us. The fucker brought the plague with him! He got here and his first night ended up with horrible stomach drama. He is since home but his aftermath has taken hold on all of us. Fevers, chills, puking, coughs, butt drama, headaches, runny noses, you name it my entire household is horribly horribly ill. As of this writing I have not yet succumbed, but the 5 other people I live with have all had various incarnations of this dread plague and I know I will be next. puke puke puke puke

I am so upset about this because my father is supposed to be transported up to my house and my care on Monday. Now I dont know what to do. Im going to have to spray disinfectant on the entire house and possibly hire someone to clean and disinfect the carpets before I can have my father here. There is NO WAY I can let him be here and expose him to this illness. Everyone who lives with me is a strong, youngish person, and they are all laying around like dying marine life caught in an oil spill. It is really tragic and disgusting. My poor dear father is already barely hanging on. I cant expose him to this. I cant leave him in the home he is in. I think the home is why he is in the condition he is in, in the first place. They did not treat the infection he got properly, right away and rather let it wait 30 hours until he went into septic shock. I cant stand the thought of him being there. It makes me really angry that this sickness had to happen right now. I have so precious little time left with him and now this stupid sickness is stealing more of it away from me. It may be Wednesday before I have my father here.

Does anyone know any really good antiviral cleaners I can use in my carpet steamer that will not harm the carpets? Also would they be safe on an antique silk rug from India and other home fabrics? I really want to be sure I have sprayed and sanitized every inch of my home after this grossness to prevent my father from getting infected with it.

Also, my father is a lifetime vegetarian (almost vegan except for eating some eggs in baked goods), please share your favorite vegan and vegetarian recipes with me. I will need to start cooking a lot more vegetarian stuff. Im looking for veg meals which are high in protein and fattening. After the hospital refused to feed him for 11 days and was going to let him starve to death before we threw a fit about it, he is very thin and frail. I really need to fatten him up. Im going to most likely have to add some animal protein, like eggs and dairy to his diet just for a while unless some of you great veg people can maybe point me in the direction of some other real foods (not like the powder stuff) which will have the same high fat and high protein content.

Here is one veg meal I made the other day which is really YUMMY!!!

Indian Lentils and Spinach

1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 white onions, halved and sliced into 1/2 rings
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup lentils
2 cups water
1 (10 ounce) package frozen spinach
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cumin
freshly ground black pepper to taste
2 cloves garlic, crushed

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DIRECTIONS:
Heat oil in a heavy pan over medium heat. Saute onion for 10 minutes or so, until it begins to turn golden. Add minced garlic and saut for another minute or so.
Add lentils and water to the saucepan. Bring mixture to a boil. Cover, lower heat, and simmer about 35 minutes, until lentils are soft ( this may take less time, depending on your water and the lentils).
Meanwhile cook the spinach in microwave according to package directions. Add spinach, salt and cumin to the saucepan. Cover and simmer until all is heated, about ten minutes. Grind in plenty of pepper and press in extra garlic to taste.

damn, you are just having a hell of a time lately. good luck with that whole not getting the plague thing. i'm not even close to a vegetarian, in fact i probably don't eat enough vegetables, unless potato chips and fries count, but i would guess that beans probably have the protien that needs to be replace when you remove meat from a diet. thats what i have always heard before.
