Last night my phone rang. I often screen my calls quite a bit and/or don't answer them if I'm busy doing something else and don't feel like being interrupted. This call said "Private Number" on the caller ID. I have a few friends out of town who are "private" so I answered it.
It was a recording. It was this woman in an incredibly bitchy and spiteful tone talking shit about a candidate running for some office. It was so nasty I passed the phone around to the others in my house to listen to what the recording said and HOW nasty the tone was. It was so bad it involved childish name calling and stuff like "Candidate X is so stupid she supports giving DRIVERS LICENSES to illegal aliens". I then took the phone back and at the end it said the call was sponsored by the Arizona Republican Party and gave a phone number.
I called them back right away to tell them how I don't remember who they talked shit about or really any of the negative stuff they tried to say about the Democratic candidate who was running but that the spirit and tone of that phone call was bad enough to make me decide to avoid voting for ANY Republican candidates if that kind of bothering me in my home to sling mud was their idea of campaigning. I mean how about calling and telling me what YOU stand for rather then talking shit about someone else? Besides I don't see a problem with amnesty or giving a license to an illegal immigrant anyway. At least if we grant amnesty we can add these people to the tax rolls, they can stop working under false SS numbers and can become real contributing citizens. I don't see being squeezed out of a vagina on a particular spot of earth as being so miraculously spectacular to be the be all and end all deciding factor in who gets to live a better life and who gets to live in filth and squalor facing a corrupt government. And I know the US helps to keep the corrupt Mexican government in power in order to secure the cheap labor right next door. So if some of those people are willing to risk life and limb to be here and work and try to make a better life how are they really any less American than the people who first came here from Europe looking for a better life? And the Mexicans aren't nearly as bent on genocide as our forefathers seemed to be.
But I digress. That call was just repulsive to me. The TV ads this election are very mud slinging as well. One went so far as to say this one guy wants our kids to get molested. A vote for guy X is a vote for having your kids molested. COME FUCKING ON!!! How low does this need to get? Is it like this in other parts of the country or is it only Arizona being so ridiculously cruel this time around?

I think most of the alright peeps in poltics are working to get a bill passed to rid all TV campaigning so we the people don't have to listen to all the mud throwing campaign's.
