I just got the call from the vet. The kitties are FLV positive. I'm on the phone right now making arrangements to have them put down and I can't stop crying. I have had so much loss the last year, it isn't even real.

I have 2 healthy cats in my home already though and my whole neighborhood of cats to think about and I can't have these FLV cats running loose spreading the miserable death. It is so hard to put down an animal who looks healthy though frown Just heartbreaking, but I think it is the only responsible thing to do at this point. The no kill rescue people are more often than not psycho collectors who keep the animals in conditions worse than death. So what is the point, and if I give them away they will infect more other cats and cause more suffering, all while 1000's of healthy loving animals are euthanized because they are unwanted. It is just so hard to see something and know you are the one who has to make that call. I could never do it. I got raped and I kept the baby because I just couldn't feel right about killing it. Of course here is where my hypocrisy comes in to play because I'm not a vegetarian or anything. So I know my life has caused the death of countless chickens, cows, sheep and pigs. But I guess I see that as nature, since everything in nature pretty much has to kill something else living in order to survive. Even if it is by eating a seed or killing a plant. I know if the table was turned the cow or pig would not think twice about eating me. But I guess I justify it through the use of the death. It serves a purpose and I only eat humanely farmed organic stuff and cage free eggs and dairy stuff in an effort to support treating these creatures as well as possible for the duration of their lives.

I don't know, I'm rambling because I'm sad.
